THE
STORY SO FAR: Helalyn Flowers may be back metal fans
but you wouldn't know from their music. Formed from the
ashes of gothic metal act The Claw back in 2004, N0emi
and Maxxx decided they want to do something new so
started tinkering around with electronica. By merging
the apparently opposing genres of trip hop with gothic
metal, the duo have created a fresh sound with lashings
of underground cool.
The therms
"Hela" and "Lyn" are medical ones, which are connected
to the study of cancer and explain the band's use of
medical paraphernalia in their photos. Hela is also the
goddess of the dead and queen of the underworld. They
say putting such harsh terminology together with
something as benign as flowers represents how absurd
life is in general. Helalyn Flowers released their first
mini album, "Disconnection", back in 2005 and the band
are now working on their next full-lenght album.
