I read your biography as research for this interview, it was very descriptive. Did one of you write it?
Helalyn Flowers :: Yeah, we wrote it together. Seriously, we don't think it's so much descriptive. It's mostly concise, we'd say!

While doing the research, I came across some musical genres I've never heard of before. Could you please explain what trip-hop and cold pop are or what it sounds like?
Helalyn Flowers :: If you heard some works of Bjork, Massive Attack, Portishead, Hooverphonic, Laika etc. maybe you're now discovering to having listened to trip-hop unwittingly! Concerning cold pop, well...it's a term invented by Max taking inspiration from some fragments of "Disconnection", since they reminded to some '80s electro/synth-pop acts. That's "cold" 'coz it's performed in a very decadent and synthetic way at the same time.

It only took you two weeks to finish your first album. What was recording like? Did you have any problems or did everything flow easily for you? 
Helalyn Flowers :: The recording sessions were really pleasant and funny, even maintaining a certain seriousness of course! Even entering with a lot of pre-produced stuff we'd say that 10 days was a short time, considering the album needed to be equal to our expectations. Of course with more time, we'd have the opportunity to underline our electro side...However, we're still really satisfied with it. 

N0emi and MaXXX, you were in a band together before this one, so you were already comfortable with each other. What was it like to record never having played with Armando before? Was it odd or did it flow well? 
Helalyn Flowers :: Armando is a session bass player who we knew through the web, so we simply asked him if he wanted to help us with the bass patterns in "Disconnection". With him being a very professional player, we didn't face any problems in the studio during the recording sessions. Even if it is pretty odd to say that he never rehearsed with us before! However, in spite of our gratitude towards him, we'd not repeat the choice to have a real bass played in our tracks. For sure it deprived them of the whole aseptic mood that we wanted to give the album. Wait to listen to the new tracks (soon available on our site) and you'll understand!  

The idea for the promo pictures was very interesting. Did one of you come up with it, or was it someone else? 
Helalyn Flowers :: All that you see and/or hear in Helalyn Flowers is the fruit of our minds. We are very creative people with a love all that's referred to art, image and photography, music apart, so it comes very natural for us to always have a new idea, concept and sceneography for our shots. After all, we are very lucky since this is referred to a job that concerns us in our daily life!

You were nude in the promo pictures. Did this make you uncomfortable? Why or why not? 
Helalyn Flowers :: Absolutely not, since the shots were done by ourselves! It was a great moment because a very natural atmosphere came out that helped to emerge all our expressivity and sickness! Hey, those aren't Playboy-like pics, ahah!!!

You haven't done live shows as of yet. Are you looking forward to doing some? If so, where would you like to do them? 
Helalyn Flowers ::  Actually, we're very concentrated on the new tracks and on our next recording, so we haven't the opportunity yet to work in that sense. We're going to give life to a killer sceneography for our shows in which everything will become our trademark. For sure we'll start to gig just after the new promo (or full-length, in the case any label will be so kind and cunning to knock on our doors!) since we have some nice requests here in Italy. However, we'd seriously like to gig in US...most of the Helalyn Flowers addicted come from there!

Some bands have a "band" persona and a "home" persona. Do you? If so what is the "band" and the "home" personas? 
Helalyn Flowers :: Our personalities are so strong and radicated, that it's impossible to hide or change them depending on different situations. You see and feel us in the band as you find us in our daily life. We feel very comfortable with our roles in Helalyn Flowers just because they reflect us for what we really are. Make-up, strong colors, use of plastic and specific objects that poses aim to underline what we feel inside and not to replace something of ours to make of us something that we aren't.

I always like to ask personal questions, so we can get to know the band members better. I would like each of you to answer these next questions.

Everybody has hobbies (non-music related). What are yours?
N0emi :: Yes, unfortunately it seems everyone has hobbies...well, I totally agree with Max's concept of “hobby”. To associate the word "hobby" is something of an insult for me. Everything I do is always done with pure passion, watching tv, make-up and shopping too! It could be quite stressful sometimes, you know?

MaXXX :: I hate hobbies and the own concept of "hobby"! If I take care of something, I like to do it with absolute passion and believing. I think hobbies are made for normal people who try to learn something outside the job so not to get annoyed before going to bed. Well, I'm not here to waste my time! I'm very much into fetish, art & philosophy, aliens and esoteric stuff in general, and erotic literature. But anyway they strengthen my musical inspiration! It's something more than a hobby, damn it!

Some people only listen to one musical genre. Do you? And you don't, is there a genre that you listen to that would surprise people?

N0emi ::  Oh, asking me to choose only one genre to listen to, is like asking me to commit suicide! I own a various discography, you can find everything in it! Maybe you would be surprised if I told you I like Valensia as I like Anorexia Nervosa or Christina Aguilera!

MaXXX:: Ahahaha, what a question! I don't know if I could surprise anyone since it's natural for me to listen to anything I like! Well...I could make a little effort, let me think...I'm crazy for dance, disco, techno, trance, hardcore and anything that deals with a dance floor! But I am also a fanatic of the early Black Metal scene: Beherit, Darkthrone, Burzum, Incarnator, Bathory, Sarcofago, Mayhem... Yeah, maybe this could surprise a lot of people out there!

What is your favorite time of day and why? (example: dawn/dusk)

N0emi ::  I've to admit that I'm totally meteorophatic. I own 2 favorite times of day. One is a nocturnal landscape, in a big metropolis; in the winter, I prefer thunderstorms. In the summer, I like quiet nights that let me hear the sound of cars.

MaXXX:: Night. The absence of light gives a touch of mystery and decadence that I really love, and the artificial lights in the night make me feel the real "urban" aspect of the city.

Some people had imaginary friends when they were kids. Did you? If so what was it's name? And at what age did you stop having one?

N0emi ::  As a child I don't remember having an imaginary friend. Now I speak with my pc, he's my confidant, my helper and sometimes my enemy too! Let me tell you it’s better an imaginary friend than a false real friend!

MaXXX:: It was Tony, my index finger. Now he's become my nose!

People act differently when they're sick. Some people get mad, some people want their families and so on. How do you act when you're sick?

N0emi :: Please leave me alone, put off all the lights and let me fall in total alienation. I love having visions under the effect of high fever! When I have my period and feel sick, I love to put to the maximum the temperature of my room until losing my senses!

MaXXX:: I act like an animal. I search for loneliness and silence.

Each person has a certain body part they like, or attracts them to someone. For example I love guys with blue eyes. Do you have a favorite body part? If so, what?

N0emi :: Mmm...you know, I'm very exacting concerning beauty. First of all, I look at the face. I prefer green eyes and fleshy lips. Then I look at the hands. Long fngers are a MUST!

MaXXX:: I really love the expressiveness of a person, so I feel attracted by features, maybe mostly by eyes. I love them dark and deep and one has to tend to smile and the other to austerity: that means intelligence for me. Not casually, concerning myself, I love my eyes. But...am I intelligent??!? :)

What is your idea of the perfect date?

N0emi :: Starting from the concept that I love sleep. In the evening after a great shower, it’s the best! ;)

MaXXX:: I don't know, I only wish that it end soon!

In closing is there anything you would like to say to your fans and potential fans?

N0emi :: Taste my poisonous tongue and enter the C.O.M.A
